After many years of dedicated service, Jan stepped down as a Trustee of Homelands Trust-Fife this year.

As a founding Trustee, Jan’s vision and determination helped make Homelands a reality. We are incredibly grateful for the time, care and energy she has given over the years, and for her commitment to making holidays and our local community more accessible to everyone.

On 3rd November, Trustees and volunteers came together to celebrate Jan and everything she has contributed.

To mark her service, this beautiful Douglas fir bench was specially crafted for her. It will have a home here at Homelands, as a lasting reminder of the difference she has made.

A huge thank you to Lignum and Leaf for their wonderful craftsmanship, and to Margaret Stewart for the beautiful celebration cake. 🍰

And this is the start of a lovely new chapter. We are honoured that Jan has agreed to become a Patron of Homelands, alongside Kiki MacDonald OBE.

We were also delighted to receive a message from Jenny Gilruth, who wrote:

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to send my warmest thanks and best wishes to Jan as she marks this significant milestone. I’m sorry that I cannot be with you today to celebrate and recognise all that Jan has achieved through her dedication to Homelands and her longstanding commitment to the local community.

“Jan has been a tireless champion for the Lundin Links and the Largos, making a real and lasting difference to so many people. From my own experience, I know that Jan has worked tirelessly to make the beach a more accessible and welcoming place for everyone, leading efforts to introduce Changing Places toilets and ensuring that people of all abilities can enjoy everything it has to offer.

“At a time when accessible tourism is rightly receiving increasing attention, Homelands stands as an outstanding example of what can be achieved. Jan’s leadership and advocacy have helped create a facility that not only transforms lives but also showcases Scotland as a welcoming and inclusive destination for all visitors.

“While stepping down as a Trustee marks the end of an important chapter, I am delighted to hear that Jan will continue her involvement as a volunteer. That continued commitment speaks volumes about both her character and her belief in the values and mission of Homelands.

“I would like to offer Jan my sincere thanks for everything she has done for Homelands over the years, and my very best wishes for the future. I hope she enjoys this well-deserved celebration, surrounded by colleagues, friends and supporters whose lives and work she has influenced so positively.

“Thank you, Jan, for all that you have done and continue to do.”
